MUSICOLOGY


Music has an important place in the field of art. The joyful music, which entertains the heart of the creature, evolved from the Samaveda in the form of Gandharva Veda in ancient in India. Samaveda is the place of origin of music.
Musicology also has a respected place in Indian literature as an independent artistic subject. The tradition of divine masters like Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati, Shri Ganesh ji, Shri Nandikeshwar, Devarshi Narad etc. has integrated music education with divine and supernatural qualities.
 
'साहित्यसंगीतकलाविहीनः साक्षात्पशुः पुच्छविषाणहीनः' (महाराजभर्तृहरिः) 
 
Rishiraj Pathak follows this line - sāhityasaṃgītakalāvihīnaḥ sākṣātpaśuḥ pucchaviṣāṇahīnaḥ' (bhartṛhari) and from this point of view, he has studied and learnt the oldest texts of music along with the art of music. Indian tradition holds that music was known as gāndharvaveda in the ancient education system. gāndharvaveda is the upaveda of sāmaveda. Thus it is believed that music originated from sāmaveda. Rishiraj Pathak studied sāmaveda with this view and has done a deep study on its musical side. and studied later texts as well.

Apart from this Dr. Pathak received its initial training from his father Shri Narayan Pathak in the Rasiya folk tradition which belongs to the Braj region, the land of Lord Krishna. Thereafter, he was trained in Indian Classical music by Smt. Rita Bokil, Padmashree Pandit Madhup Mudgal and Shri Rajendra Sharma at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Delhi, which is one of the foremost school of Indian Music. He has also received training on the percussion instrument, Tabla, from Ustad Abdullah Khan and Shri Tansen Srivastava (2000-2005). Owing to his interest in Music and other classical art forms, Dr. Pathak, also received preliminary training of Kathak from the renowned Kathak Dancer Smt. Monisha Nayak (2011-2013). Dr. Pathak has been awarded various certifications in different musical disciplines.
